First Look at Ami Ami, the New European Cafe on Miracle Mile

Ami Ami opened its doors in downtown Coral Gables just a few weeks ago in August, and it is already bringing something fresh to our neighborhood. You will find Ami Ami at 318 Miracle Mile, taking over the former Lotus Garden space. This is an independent, family-run project created by husband Dushan, wife Mimi, and their sons Luka and Noah.

Together, they built a European-inspired third space where food, art, books, and community come together under one roof. It serves as a cafe, a bookshop, a dining room, and a stage. Best of all, it is the kind of local cafe where you can sit down, order a great latte, take your time, and never feel rushed out the door.

Flammkuchen

Before pizza had a name, there was flammkuchen. This centuries-old European classic hails from Alsace and Germany, made with paper-thin dough that gets baked quickly until it is crisp and blistered. It is naturally built for sharing across the table, making it a fun centerpiece for lunch or dinner with friends.

We ordered The Nordic, which features cream cheese crème fraîche, julienne red onions, smoked salmon, and caper gremolata. The crisp base with the savory salmon and caper gremolata makes this an immediate favorite on the menu, and I plan on ordering it every time I visit.

Bruschetta Avocado Verde

If you want a lighter start or a midday bite, the Bruschetta Avocado Verde is their take on classic avocado toast. They build it with crumbled goat cheese, grape tomatoes, and pistachios.

The combination of the creamy goat cheese, ripe tomatoes, and crunchy pistachios gives you everything you want from an avocado toast, but with a distinctly European cafe twist. It pairs nicely with an iced latte while you flip through a book.

Chicken Sandwich on Ciabatta with Burrata Cheese

For something heartier during a lunch break, get the chicken sandwich on ciabatta with burrata cheese.

Ciabatta is always a great foundation for a sandwich, and pairing chicken with burrata cheese keeps things rich and satisfying. It is simple, filling, and ideal if you need a solid meal before heading back to work or walking down the Mile.

Golden Lentil Soup

If you want something warm and comforting, order the Golden Lentil Soup. It is a hearty bowl, and it comes served with garlic sourdough bread from local favorite Domaselo (@domaselocom).

Domaselo makes fantastic sourdough, and pairing garlic sourdough with a warm bowl of lentil soup is hard to beat. It is pure comfort on a plate, especially for a quiet afternoon meal.

Sesame Citrus Crunch Salad

When you want a crisp, colorful plate full of fresh produce, the Sesame Citrus Crunch Salad delivers. It comes loaded with chiffonade cabbage, red bell pepper, broccoli, carrots, oranges, and candied cashews.

The mix of citrus oranges with the sweetness of candied cashews and crunchy cabbage gives you plenty of variety in every forkful. It is a bright, refreshing choice to balance out the savory dishes on the table.
