Did you know Miccosukee Indian Village is hosting the “Silenced Lives” exhibition starting on May 5: National Missing & Murdered Indigenous Persons Awareness Day? This exhibition, curated by Voices of the River of Grass, stands as a poignant tribute to the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP), shedding light on the profound injustices faced by Indigenous communities for far too long.
Within the sacred space of the Miccosukee Indian Village, the works of six Indigenous artists and artists of Indigenous ancestry will be displayed. Through diverse mediums and perspectives, these artists offer a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Indigenous culture while also confronting the harsh realities of systemic violence and erasure.
Central to the exhibition’s mission is the collaboration with MMIWhoismissing, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about the ongoing crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People.
Miccosukee Indian Village is located at 500 US-41, Miami, FL 33194. For more information visit miccosukee.com
